PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant application device preventing an application member and a solid lubricant member from always coming in contact with each other and to provide an image forming apparatus mounted with the same.;SOLUTION: The lubricant application device is provided with: the application member (48) which is configured in such a manner that it can come in press-contact with and separate from the image forming surface (30) of an image carrier having a toner image and applies lubricant to the image forming surface; and the solid lubricant member (66) which is configured in such a manner that it can come in contact with and separate from the application member and gives lubricity to the image forming surface through the application member.
