PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a microorganism having a probiotechs function capable of controlling periodontal disease bacteria with mechanism except lactic acid having a dental caries action. PSOLUTION: It has been found that the growth of Porphyromonas gingivalis can be controlled by competing Bifidobacterium bifidum requiring vitamin K with vitamin K which is a Porphyromonas gingivalis growth factor. The periodontal disease-preventing or treating agent containing a microorganism belonging to the Bifidobacterium bifidum requiring vitamin K as an active ingredient, and a food or food additive containing the Bifidobacterium bifidum requiring vitamin K as an active ingredient and used for preventing or treating periodontal disease are provided.
