PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition for carpet, which simply removes stains even without carrying out a complicated preconditioning operation, a cleaning operation by an electric polisher and a cleaning and rinsing operation by an extraction machine, etc., and to provide a method for control of maintenance of carpet using the same.;SOLUTION: The detergent composition for carpet comprises (A) 0.1-20 mass% of an alkali-soluble resin having an average molecular weight (Mw) of 2,000-30,000 and a glass transition point (Tg) of 50-150°C, (B) 0.01-10 mass% calculated as solid content of colloidal silica, (C) 0.1-10 mass% of a surfactant and (D) water and has a pH of 6-9 by JIS Z-8802:1984 (pH measurement method).
