Disclosed is a method for dissociating avidin or streptavidin from a biotin derivative and a dissociating agent that can efficiently isolate a target material in a short time under mild conditions. A method for dissociating avidin or streptavidin and a biotin derivative includes mixing a conjugate of avidin or streptavidin and desthiobiotin and a water-soluble polymer to which biotin or a derivative thereof is bound.
