Method for optimization of waste water treatment plants, wherein the determining of the basic dimensioning parameters for specific waste water - such as the respiration of the heterotrophic biomass, the respiration of the nitrifiers biomass, the specific nitrification rate depending on the specific temperature, the specific rate of denitrification depending on the respiration of the biomass - is carried out in laboratory conditions by means of "Scale-up" studies, while observing the law of similars, while the avoidance of the variations in the volumes of biological step during the different seasons is done by calculating the age of the slurry of the specific waste water and varying the concentration of the biomass within certain limits, while maintaining the constant age of the biomass and adjusting the concentration of biomass in the bio basin according to the temperature change of the waste water therein, while the optimization of the dimensioning of the air blowers for the biological step is performed by determining the required amount of oxygen on the basis of the actual respiration of the specific biomass.
