METHOD FOR CONTROLING THE VISCOSITY OR DENSITY OF A DRILLING ELUISE AND SETTING OF THE VISCOSITY AND DENSITY CONTROL MACANISM OF A DRILLING FLUID. A method for controlling the viscosity (or density) of the solid-containing drilling fluid, said drilling fluid circulating in a drilling fluid system, the method of which comprises the steps of; (2) feeding the drilling fluid into a container (16); (b) sensing with a viscosity (or density) sensor (19) a drilling fluid viscosity (or density) in said container (16 (and providing a representative viscosity (or density) signal said;) (c) in responding to said viscosity (or density) signal by pumping a portion of said drilling fluid to a solids separation mechanism (40), (d) separating with said solids separation mechanism (40) from at least some of the solids from said portion of the drilling fluid; (e) turning said drilling fluid system drilling fluid and / or solids separated in step (d) to adjust the viscosity (or density) of said drilling fluid in the said container (16).
