The present invention relates to a method of measuring energy expenditure for appliances comprising the following steps: evaporation temperature acquisition; condensation temperature acquisition; acquisition of room temperature; comparison between measured and parameterized values of a compressor characteristic curve; and determining the amount of energy spent by the compressor.
