PROCESS TO INCREASE DIGESTIBILITY OF THE CELL WALL OF A PLANT, COMPOSITION FOR INHIBITING CONSTITUENTS OF THE PHENYLPROPANIDES WAY, AND USE OF CHEMICAL MODULATORS OR INHIBITORS. The present invention relates to a process for the inventive application of chemical inhibitors of the phenylpropanoid pathway, including MDCA and PIP, to grassy or cominoid-like plants, among others. Plants are treated with inhibitors at the time of cultivation, providing a less indigestible biomass and making the saccharification process easier, as well as facilitating the pretreatment step in the production of cellulosic ethanol. The present invention also relates to a composition for inhibiting enzyme constituents of the phenylpropanoid pathway.
