The method of sewage treatment and the device for implementing the method in the reactors of variable inflow, in which after the sedimentation of the activated sludge from purified water, the purified water is pumped out by a device for pumping purified water from under the surface layer of water in the reactor. Purified water is pumped out by a pumping device of purified water into a separate airlift tank, which is waterproofly separated from the internal space of the reactor. Purified water is pumped out of the separate airlift tank to the outflow by the airlift that has an inlet at a depth corresponding to the required airlift capacity. The submerged inlet of the device for pumping purified water moves vertically together with the changing water level in the reactor.
