OBTENTION OF BIODIESEL BY THE EXTRACTION OF OIL FROM THE THEVETIA PERUVIANA SEED.

摘要

The present invention refers to the extraction of oil from Thevetia seeds, the conversion of oil into biodiesel and the quality thereof. Two methods for extracting the oil were used, by hexane solvent and by mechanical means with the use of a hydraulic press. The obtained oil was filtrated in an activated carbon column and was subjected to a conversion process from vegetable oil to biodiesel, best know as transesterification. The specific properties of the obtained oil and the capacity of chemical transformation thereof, indicates that this may be used in a convenient manner in the obtention of biodiesel.
