The present invention is related to a method for detecting compounds with hormonal activity, using genes which may act as markers for detecting this type of compounds. The oligonucleotide sequences are provided for detecting the presence of these marker genes. This test offers a methodology based on molecular techniques that are more sensitive to this type of compounds, on the basis of changes in the genetic expression, which may predict the biological effects that pollutants cause in aquatic fauna and their possible effects on exposed human beings.
