It relates to a method for extracting Copper from chalcopyrite Concentrate by chemical leaching, using pyrite and Silver. The catalytic Properties of pyrite in the leaching process of chalcopyrite pyrite are considerably pretratando with Silver ions. The pyrite particles exposed to a Solution containing Silver ions to form pyrite treated with Silver.Mix in the chalcopyrite and pyrite particles treated with silver in a solution of acid leaching of sulphate. The Copper Concentrate is leached in the leaching solution in the presence of a gas containing Oxygen, under conditions in which pyrite oxidizes not substantially. The Copper is extracted from the leaching solution by Conventional Methods.Pyrite treated with silver used is recycled to the leaching process.
