Preparation of silicon-oxy-carbide (SiOC) linked, linear polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene-blockcopolymer (I) containing repeating unit (AB), comprises reacting polyetherdiol with a stoichiometric excess of alpha , omega -dihydrogen-polydimethylsiloxane in presence of at least a tertiary amine as a catalyst, where the reaction is continued until complete conversion of alcohol component occurs and does not have silyl hydride group. An independent claim is included for (I) obtained by the process.
