A device for surface hardening parts by surface plastic deformation, which has a deforming roller with possibility of rotation about its axis, and a mechanism of its loading in the form of a spring and a laser to heat the surface, using a pulsed laser, its axis is normal to the part surface through a roller body, made of a laser-transparent material such as fused silica, with a width that is less than the size of exit aperture of the laser.
