METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF LACTASE INSUFFICIENCY IN CHILDREN OF THE FIRST MONTHS OF LIFE

A method for the differential diagnosis of lactase insufficiency in the children of the first months of life comprises the assay for carbohydrate content. The hydrogen respiratory test with lactose load (1.5 g/kg in 10 mL of warm water) is provided. Hydrogen is assayed prior to loading (base-line level) and in 30 minutes after loading. Based on the results of the test, lactase insufficiency or lactose-dependent excessive bacterial growth in the intestine is diagnosed.
