A method for producing bimetallic magnesium-based powder includes coating magnesium powder with a metal. Application of the metal is performed by reduction of metal ions from a solution of its salt in an organic solvent by carburizing with magnesium powder. Thus, as a metal salt a salt of palladium (II) chloride is used, as organic solvent - dimethyl formamide.
