The present invention refers to a modulator, to be used for comprehensive multidimensional chromatography separations, to entrap and release sample solute fractions (entrapped in a capillary loop of fixed or variable volume), deriving from a capillary column with an internal diameter ranging from 0.01 mm to 0.53 mm, onto another capillary column with an internal diameter ranging from 0.01 mm to 0.53 mm.
