Plastic lens for uniform lighting with LED.

The invention relates to a novel injected plastic lens, the outer surface of which has been modified, providing uniform lighting distributions that cover 100x25 degrees for a lens without the modification and up to 120x25 degrees for a lens with the modification. The lens has been designed to work with LED sources and the modification is designed to increase the performance and the uniformly lit area when the LEDs emit more than 120 degrees. The lens has been designed using the Non-Uniform Rational Bezier Spline (NURBS) mathematical model and a cavity is provided centrally between the inner surface and the LED, which cavity can optionally be filled with plastic material, e.g. silicone.
