The embodiments and alternatives of the described method include cleaning methods wax impurities substantially equivalent, and other contaminants from porous rocks in historical and artworks using nondestructive means monuments. # According to a specific embodiment of the method described, removing contaminants from porous rocks using laser technology comprises the following steps: (a) identifying regions with a contaminant in porous rock monument; (B) characterization of the contaminant in the porous rock monument; (C) exposing the contaminant in the monument porous irradiation of a laser wherein a wavelength, pulse duration, repetition frequency, and laser energy density certain rock and optimized for a particular contaminant system porous-the rock and (d) evaluating the results adaptively cleaning by quantifying the thickness of remaining contaminants.
