This invention relates to a new member of a recently recognized TWIK potassiumtransport channels, herein designated as TASK2. TASK2 is a unique potassiumtransport channel which is regulated by external pH and predominantlyexpressed in kidney and epithelial tissues. The invention relates to variousconstructs of TASK2 for the production of TASK2 and their uses for diagnostictests and screening methods to identify compounds that modulate potassiumtransport.
