A strain of Burkholderia andropogonis for controlling the growth of a weedbelonging to the order Caryophyllales is provided. Also provided is a methodforsuppressing weed growth, comprising applying a strain of Burkholderiaandropogonisto a weed belonging to the order Caryophyllales. Also provided is a biocontrolcomposition for controlling the growth of a weed belonging to the orderCaryophyllales, the composition comprising a strain of Burkholderiaandropogonis,and a suitable medium.
