The present invention is directed to compositions and methods for altering thelevels of gamma-zein seed proteins in cereal grain. The invention is directedto thealteration of gamma-zein seed protein levels in plant grain, resulting ingrain withincreased digestibility/nutrient availability, improved amino acidcomposition/nutritional value, increased response to feed processing, improvedsilage quality, and increased efficiency of wet milling.
