The present invention relates to a method and system for determining an optimal connection route with one target person on the basis of a mutual closeness index. The method comprises the steps of: establishing an address book database server having closeness index information on friends in social relationships with each member; receiving a target person, with whom a connection is desired, from a specific member; searching for and finding a route enabling connection between said specific member and said target person; and determining and outputting an optimal connection route in consideration of both a mutual closeness index calculated by using said closeness index information and the number of steps between said specific member and said target person in said route enabling connection. According to the present invention, when searching for a connection route using one's own friends and the friends of the target person as agents on the basis of a list of friends stored in an address book of a member, by using closeness information in a friends list included in the address book for each member, a small number of agents enabling connection is required. Also, it is possible to determine an optimal connection route having a high closeness index between agents, and the probability of failure is minimized when a connection is attempted according to the actual searched route.
