The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for the determination of onset sensitivity to heat stroke or onset resistance thereto, a kit for the determination of onset sensitivity to heat stroke or onset resistance thereto, and a therapeutic/prophylactic agent for heat stroke. The method for the determination of onset sensitivity to heat stroke or onset resistance thereto is characterized by comprising: step (a) for detecting the presence or absence of one or more kinds of single nucleotide polymorphisms in Carnitine palmitoyl transferase II gene of a subject; and step (b) for determining that the onset sensitivity to heat stroke is high or the onset resistance thereto is low, in the case where single nucleotide polymorphism(s) are detected in step (a).
