Disclosed is a high capacity composite hydrogen-storage material, and a synthesis and a hydrogen-releasing process therefor. The hydrogen-storage material is mainly formed by the interaction of an Hδ--containing substance and an Hδ+-containing substance, with the molar ratio of the Hδ+-containing substance to the Hδ+-containing substance being between 100:1 and 1:100. The hydrogen-storage material is synthesized by a process of the mutual coordinating interaction between the Hδ--containing substance and the Hδ+-containing substance under inert gas atmosphere, with the synthesis process being completed by ball-milling, mixing under stirring or vapour adsorption. The process for releasing hydrogen employs a closed or open hydrogen-releasing system, with the operation temperature for the hydrogen release being between -100°C and 600°C; the process for releasing hydrogen mainly comprises thermal decomposition or catalytic thermal decomposition.
