A surfactant concentrate including a compound according to general formula (III): R1O-[CH2-CH2O]n-H, and a compound according to general formula (IV): is provided. A liquid, surfactant composition including the surfactant concentrate in water is also provided. A surfactant concentrate and a liquid, surfactant composition including a compound according to general formula (V): R1 -0-[CH2-CH2O]n-A and a compound according to general formula (VI): are also provided. Methods for stabilizing an emulsion polymer or polymer dispersion, and for adding to an emulsion polymer reaction or a polymer dispersion to carry out the polymerization reaction, are also provided.
