The invention relates to a method for determining a wheel reference speed of a wheel of a vehicle having a hydrostatic drive using a transfer medium, wherein the hydrostatic drive acts at least on the one wheel, wherein the hydrostatic drive comprises an oscillating motor pivotable in a pumping operation, by means of which a torque can be applied to the wheel, and wherein a wheel speed sensor for detecting each wheel speed is disposed near the wheel, wherein the oscillating motor is correspondingly adjusted, while the wheel speed sensor determines the wheel reference speed, in order to allow unimpeded flow of the transfer medium through the oscillating motor. The invention further relates to a device comprising corresponding means for performing the method according to the invention, and designed, for example, as a hydraulic drive control device.
