A detection method for a traditional Chinese medicine composition for treating acute and chronic prostatitis. The method comprises the use of thin layer chromatography to identify olibanum with a developing solvent being cyclohexane-ethyl acetate of 17：3; the use of high performance liquid chromatography to detect the salvianolic acid B in salviae miltiorrhizae, the filler being octadecylsilane chemically bonded silica, the mobile phase being methanol-acetonitrile-formic acid-water with a volume ratio of 30 ： 10 ： 1 ： 59, and a measurement wavelength of 286 nm. The method has high sensitivity, good repeatability and a good recovery rate, and the negative control showed no interference.
