The invention relates to a grinding roller of a high-pressure roller press, comprising hard bodies (1, 2, 3, 4) embedded into the surface. According to the invention, the hard bodies (1, 2, 3, 4) have at least two different sizes, the size of the base of the hard bodies (1, 2, 3, 4) decreasing from the center of the grinding roller surface to the outer region of the grinding roller. The use of hard bodies with different sizes such that the hard bodies (1, 2, 3, 4) have at least two different sizes allows the number of hard bodies per unit area on the guiding roller surface to be reduced without thereby negatively influencing the adhesion of the autogenous wear protection layer on the grinding roller surface.
