A evaporative emission control system (26) includes a fuel tank (16), canister (12) communicating with the fuel tank (16), air intake structure (28) directing air to an internal combustion engine(20'), a purge valve (14) connected between the canister (12) and the air intake structure (28), a vent valve (22) associated with a source of ambient air, mixing structure (32) associated with vent valve (22) to selectively receive the ambient air that passes through the vent valve (22), a feed line (36) connected between an exhaust flow path (30) associated with the engine (20') and the mixing structure (32), an output air flow (33) from the mixing structure (32) being received by the canister (12), and an exhaust valve (34) in the feed line (36) for controlling pressurized exhaust air flow, from the exhaust flow path (30), to the mixing structure (32). The exhaust air flow (30)is mixed with the ambient air in the mixing structure (32) with the output air flow (33) therefrom purging the canister (12) of hydrocarbons to be consumed by the engine (20').
