The invention relates to a device (1) that can offer a customer a sample tailored to a target group, preferably using a customer profile, informs the customer about advantages of the sample during collection, and thus effects an inexpensive and effective sales promotion. The customer profile and thus the allocation of the customer to the appropriate target group is preferably produced in a machine-readable manner by means of a code-generating device using data about the customer and delivered to the customer or otherwise communicated to the device (1) in such a manner that said profile can be assigned to the customer, such that the customer can collect the sample by presenting the machine-readable data to the device (1).
