Disclosed is an uplink closed loop transmit diversity (CLTD) active status update method, comprising: a NodeB or a drift radio network controller (DRNC) sending to a serving radio network controller (SRNC) an uplink CLTD active status update request message for a UE; the SRNC deciding to change the CLTD active status of the UE, so as to update the CLTD active status of the UE in the NodeB and the UE with an expected CLTD active status. Also disclosed is a corresponding uplink CLTD active status update system. According to the present invention, after the uplink CLTD is activated by using an active status, and if the NodeB or the DRNC needs to change the uplink CLTD active status, other uplink CLTD active status may be used for update, so as to ensure the implementation of the uplink CLTD function.
