Subject matter disclosed herein relates to techniques and structures for determining spatial location of objects within a three dimensional scene of interest using time of flight (TOF) based methods. In some embodiments, systems are provided that are capable of capturing three dimensional scene content using relatively compact, low cost, low complexity components. As such, the systems are well suited for implementation within portable and mobile devices. In at least one embodiment, parametric signal processing is used to identify parameters within scene responses received at one or more photo detectors. Object localization processes may then be used on the parameters to develop object location information.
