The invention relates to a surgical sterilisation container trough, to which a sterilisation container lid (22) can be detachably mounted, for forming a surgical sterilisation container (10), in which surgical instruments can be received for sterilisation, wherein the sterilisation container trough (12) comprises a base (14) and a container wall (16) at a distance from the base (14), wherein the sterilisation container trough (12) defines a horizontal plane (26) and wherein the base (14) comprises or forms a fluid collection region (50) for collecting fluid. In order to provide such a surgical container trough and such a surgical sterilisation container by means of which fluid to be removed can be effectively routed to the fluid collection region, the invention proposes that the base (14) comprises a fluid deflection surface (46) for deflecting fluid towards the container wall (16), said fluid detection surface (46) being inclined relative to the horizontal plane (26) and in fluid communication with the fluid collection region (50).
