The invention relates to a method for disinfecting grain stored in silos, which consists of recirculating air with ozone through the spaces between the grain, maintaining a concentration of ozone that is suitable for eliminating insects. The design for applying ozonised air inside the column of grain involves a centred manifold, with a series of perforated radial tubes. The system is highly efficient since it achieves immediate, uniform distribution of gas throughout the stored grain, thus reducing the times and concentrations required for complete elimination of the plague. The direction of recirculation within the bundle of grain can be controlled, directing the ozone input to the dome or base of the column as required.
