A system for the preparation of Arabic coffee beverage, which system comprises a disposable single serving cartridge (1) and a preparation device (100) the device comprises a holder (102) for accommodating the cartridge, water feed means (10) adapted to provide water, and a boiling reservoir (120) which is arranged to receive therein water and ground roasted coffee that has been discharged from the cartridge. In the boiling reservoir a boiling process is performed, the boiled mixture is discharged from the reservoir into a cup. The preparation device includes a main housing (104) and a removable unit (200) that is removable from the main housing, said removable unit comprising a base (160), the boiling reservoir (120), and an electric heater (130) for heating the boiling reservoir so as to subject the water and the ground roasted coffee, held in the boiling reservoir (120) to the boiling process, wherein the boiling reservoir is movable supported on the base of the removable unit between a receiving position to receive the water and the ground roasted coffee and a dispensing position to pour the boiled mixture, e.g. into a cup.
