There is provided a method for detecting or quantifying an analyte allowing an analyte to be detected or quantified with greater sensitivity and allowing the intensity of fluorescence to be measured in a state in which the intrinsic fluorescence originating from a material of a test strip is low to non-existent. This method for detecting or quantifying an analyte included in a sample includes a step for using a specific lateral-flow chromatography test strip to cause an analyte included in a sample to be brought into contact with a labeled ligand (1) obtained by having a ligand (1) that uniquely bonds to an analyte be labeled with a phosphor (1) excited by specific light, and a specific step.
