Exemplary liquid compositions for reducing hexavalent chromium in cement, comprise at least one metal chromium reducer, at least one alkylamine or alkanolamine compound, at least one antioxidant or oxygen scavenger, at least one sugar alcohol or carbohydrate or glycoside having ability to chelate or to form an association complex with the metal chromium reducer, and preferably a natural gum or biopolymer polysaccharide stabilizer for the liquid additive composition.
