The helmet (1) has an inner shell (11) comprising recesses. A light source assembly (2) is arranged at a translucent region in a rigid outer shell (10). Another light source assembly (3) is arranged beneath the rigid outer shell at the translucent region. A processing unit (5) provides lighting instructions to the former assembly with respect to positive measuring acceleration and emits the lighting instructions to the latter assembly with respect to the negative measuring acceleration, where the instructions vary intensity of a light source based on the measured accelerations. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a luminous protective helmet.
