The pedal system (12) has an accelerator pedal (14) for adjusting the speed of a vehicle (10) by a driver and a controller (18) that is adjusted to detect a poor path signal and to control the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal is configured to adjust a variable restoring force. The controller is provided to increase the restoring force in a partial area of a pedal path of the accelerator pedal, if the poor path signal is detected. The controller is provided to determine the poor path signal from the actual wheel speed. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for controlling an active accelerator pedal of a vehicle; and (2) a computer program for a computer-readable medium.
