It is described a method for operating a wind turbine (100), in particular during an icing condition, the method comprising: obtaining information (127, 129, 131) indicative of a rate of heat loss of a rotor blade (109) of the wind turbine (100); controlling (133, 134) the wind turbine based on the information.
