Influencing a flow parameter of a suspension with magnetic particles, guided by a boundary and processed in an industrial process, such that the suspension has a free surface, comprises providing a magnetic field in suspension such that the magnetic particles collect in a predefined area of boundary or are removed from the predefined area, which has at least two portions of the boundary that are relatively moved. The magnetic field is formed such that a predefined flow parameter of the suspension is adjusted in the predefined area by accumulating and/or removing the magnetic particles. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a control- and/or regulating device (10) for a device for influencing a flow parameter of the suspension with magnetic particles, comprising a computer readable program code, which includes control instructions, which cause the control- and regulating device to perform the above method; and (2) a device (1) for influencing a flow parameter of the suspension with magnetic particles, comprising at least one device for generating a magnetic field acting in the suspension.
