PURPOSE: A method for communicating a content responder and a content requester in a network based on a hierarchical name structure and a device thereof are provided to perform a request, a search, and a response of corresponding contents with only a part of a content name or a content attribute by performing a content search through a virtual group and the hierarchical name structure. CONSTITUTION: A communication device of a content requester generates content search request packets(210). The communication device requests a search for contents to one or more communication units(220). The communication units are included in one or more virtual groups of a network based on a hierarchical name structure. The communication device receives a first response packet including a hierarchical name for the contents from the communication units(230). The communication device generates a content request packet(240). The communication device receives a second response packet including the contents from the communication units(250).
