PURPOSE: A water treatment system and a water treatment method are provided to remove phosphorus in a stable manner without continuously adding an alkali solution into water to be treated.;CONSTITUTION: A water treatment system removes phosphorus in water to be treated by contacting the phosphorus with a phosphorus removal filtering material. The phosphorus removal filtering material includes slag. The average particle diameter of the slag is 0.1mm or less. The content of Fe_2O_3 in the slag is from 10 to 40 weight%. The water treatment system includes an acid solution supplying unit and an alkali solution supplying unit. An acid solution washes the surface of the used phosphorus removal filtering material.
