PURPOSE: An underground tunnel detection system and a method thereof are provided to easily detect an underground tunnel in an environment having a complex underground medium structure by using a synthetic signal generated by synthesizing a pulse wave signal of pulse radar with a continuous wave signal of continuous wave radar.;CONSTITUTION: A pulse wave signal generating unit(110) generates a pulse wave radar signal. A signal synthesizing unit(130) generates a synthetic signal by synthesizing the pulse wave radar signal with a continuous wave radar signal. A transmitting antenna(140) is inserted to a first borehole to radiate the synthetic signal in an underground space. A receiving antenna(150) is inserted into a second borehole to receive the synthetic signal radiated from the transmitting antenna.
