PURPOSE: A vehicle power generation control system for fuel reduction and a control method thereof are provided to implement power generation control based on whether or not cooling system electronic units are actuated, and vehicle information such as a cooling temperature, an accelerator opening degree, and a vehicle speed, thereby preventing cooling performance deterioration due to power generation control.;CONSTITUTION: A control method for a vehicle power generation control system for fuel reduction includes: a step(S510) of determining whether or not cooling system electronic units among electronic units are actuated by an ECU(Electronic Control Unit) after starting the engine of a vehicle; a step(S520) of determining whether or not a cooling temperature value in the vehicle information monitored from the outside is larger than a predetermined cooling temperature value by the ECU when the cooling system electronic units are determined to be actuated; a step(S530) of determining whether or not an accelerator opening degree value in the vehicle information is larger than a predetermined accelerator opening degree value by the ECU when the cooling temperature value is determined to be larger than the predetermined cooling temperature value; a step(S540) of determining whether or not a vehicle speed value in the vehicle information is larger than a predetermined vehicle speed value by the ECU when the accelerator opening degree value is determined to be larger than the predetermined accelerator opening degree value; and a step(S560) of controlling a power generator so that a ban on power generation control can be implemented by the ECU when the vehicle speed value is determined to be larger than the predetermined vehicle speed value.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013;[Reference numerals] (AA) Engine start; (BB) End; (S510) Electronic units of a cooling system are actuated?; (S515) Executing existing generation control; (S520) Cooling water temperature Set value; (S530) Accelerator opening degree Set value; (S540) Vehicle speed Set value; (S550) Delay time Set value; (S560) Executing a ban on power generation control; (S570) Engine is stopped?
