PURPOSE: A route guiding device and a method for displaying a route line are provided to vary the colors of the route lines considering the background color of the map images and a road color so that a user can easily recognize the route lines. CONSTITUTION: A route guiding device comprises a memory unit(120) and a control unit(110). The memory unit stores map data. The control unit searches a route to a destination by referring to the map data when a route search is requested, confirms a road color and a background color of the map images, records the color of a route line set in consideration with the confirmed colors in the memory unit, and displays the route line of the set color when guiding the searched route.
