PURPOSE: A roll with an improved cooling performance and a twin roll strip caster comprising the same are provided to uniformly cool an edge unit and to reduce pressure loss by modifying a distribution line which distributes cooling fluid to the surface cooling fluid line of a casting roll.;CONSTITUTION: A roll with improved cooling performance comprises a roll body and a cooling unit. The cooling unit cools the roll body through cooling fluid. The cooling unit comprises a surface cooling line(17) which is in parallel formed to a roll axis on a roll surface part and a buffer unit which is positioned at the inlet of the surface cooling line in order to reduce the pressure loss and turbulent flow of cooling fluid flowed into the surface cooling line. The cooling unit comprises a main passage formed on the roll axis; a connection passage radially formed on the main passage; and a distribution line which is externally sloped towards the radial direction of the roll in order to connect the connection passage with the surface cooling line. The distribution line is bent at an angle of more than 90 degrees from the superficial cooling line. Each distribution line is connected to two superficial cooling lines. The buffer unit has a polygon-shaped cross section on the surface vertical to the axial direction. The cooling line and distribution line are respectively positioned at the corners of the cross section. In the cross section, the corners are radially rounded along the distribution line and the cooling line. The cooling line and distribution line correspond to the cross section of the buffer unit in the corners.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
