BLOCK-BASED OPTICAL FLOW ESTIMATION OF MOTION PICTURES

PURPOSE: A block based video optical flow estimation method is provided to perform block-based estimation, thereby performing the estimation calculation by using hardware which includes a constant size of cache. CONSTITUTION: An image processing device performs warping calculation based on a reference image, a gradient of the reference image, a target image, a gradient of the target image, and optical flow which is calculated in the previous step. The image processing device makes a linearization equation which solves the minimization problem of the total energy based on the result of the warping calculation and the gradient of optical flow. The image processing device solves the equation by using a linearization equation solution and estimates the optical flow based on the solution result.
