PURPOSE: A facsimile transmitting and receiving apparatus using a control panel and a method thereof are provided to transmit facsimile data without scanning a manuscript or an external device.;CONSTITUTION: A central control unit of an image forming apparatus drives a facsimile unit(S210). A user selects a facsimile transmission mode through a control panel(S220). A manuscript source is selected through a self scanning unit or the control panel(S230). The central control unit images a document(S236).
